Dillon Brooks ejected on a Flagrant 2 against Denver
Unpopular opinion: Dillon Brooks got robbed.
The short version
Dillon Brooks was ejected early in the third quarter of a 127-120 loss to Denver after a foul on Jamal Murray was upgraded to a Flagrant 2 on review.
By the numbers
The trend: It is not the first time: the NBA fined Brooks $25,000 in October 2023 for reckless contact to the groin area on a play that drew a Flagrant 2.
Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was ejected early in the third quarter of a 127-120 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. On a turnaround jumper he fell backward and his leg came through, making contact with Jamal Murray.
Brooks was first called for an offensive foul. After review, officials upgraded it to a Flagrant 2, an automatic ejection. He had 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 20 in the first half.
Murray said he does not believe it was intentional. The Suns backed Brooks. Right call or not?
The bottom line
The reputation made this call as much as the replay did. That is the price of being the league's villain.
Bar argument
Right call, or did the officials punish the name on the jersey?
